If you wish to add volume and enhance the contours of your face, breasts, or buttocks, a surgical fat transfer can be an effective method of achieving your cosmetic goals. Fat transfer techniques allow plastic surgeons to redistribute your body’s fat by slimming one area while augmenting another. Our patients at New York Plastic Surgical Group (NYPSG) have used fat transfer to combat natural tissue loss, create a more shapely figure, and rejuvenate the look of the body and face for more youthful, contoured features.
Fat Transfer Procedure
A fat transfer begins by removing excess fatty tissue from the body with liposuction. Our surgeons may suggest harvesting fat from areas of the body including: the abdomen, love handles, back, arms, or thighs. This harvested fat is then refined and purified before being injected at the designated treatment site. These injections require no additional incisions, allowing our surgeons to enhance the target site with natural-looking results.

Fat Transfer Recovery and Results
Most patients return to work and their normal activities within one to two weeks of surgery. In many cases, a percentage of the transferred fat will be absorbed by the body, so the final results of your procedure won’t be fully visible until three to four weeks after surgery.
Our plastic surgeon will meet with you for an initial consultation to answer your questions and determine whether fat transfer is the best option for your needs.
