Many patients come to our practice wondering and worried about breast asymmetry. This condition is not only common, but generally nothing at all to be concerned about. Some estimates suggest that as many as 80 percent of women have some form of breast asymmetry, which means that the breasts are uneven in size, shape, or fullness. Nipples can also be sized or shaped differently, or located higher or lower than one another. Our bodies are not made to be mirror images on one side and the other; however, if your breasts are noticeably different in size or shape, there are things you can do. Fat grafting, breast augmentation, and breast reduction are all options that can be used to bring the breasts into better harmony. The ideal approach will depend on your individual needs, goals, and preferences.
