shutterstock_305219429Liposuction can successfully eliminate excess fat from a number of body areas, including the hips, abdomen, flanks, buttocks, arms, knees, and chin. Consequently, many patients often ask our board-certified plastic surgeons how many areas they can simultaneously treat to achieve a slimmer figure.

While there is no one correct answer to this question, our plastic surgeons often recommend treating no more than three areas at once. The more areas of the body targeted by liposuction, the more sore the patient will likely feel after surgery.

However, the question is just as much about volume as number of areas. If you are removing a larger amount of fat from one area of the body, the total number of areas that can be safely and effectively treated may be smaller. For patients who wish to remove a larger amount of fat from many areas of the body, our plastic surgeons may recommend having liposuction performed in two separate sessions, allowing the body to heal in between.

After performing a physical exam, reviewing your medical history, and discussing your individual goals, our plastic surgeons can help you decide how body contouring can best meet your expectations. For more information about liposuction, or to schedule a consultation, please contact us today.
